Web structures
A late afternoon walk in freezing fog around Thorpe Meadows and the River Nene - earth hard as iron and almost silent apart from the distant roar of traffic on the parkway and the unsettling squeal of a Water Rail on the other side of the river. Poker-stiff plants had been seasonally wrapped by a myriad of spiders, their webs turned into glittering sculptures by the frost. So many different shapes, from curvaceous lace-like structures to angular geometric webs like miniature pylons.
