Meandering

After a humungous and leisurely breakfast, we jump on board one of the ferries. It's a kind of magical mystery tour (as we don't really know where the boat's headed) which is a very pleasant way to spend the morning. After ending up on Burano, we head for Fondamente Nove, and then on to the old Ghetto disctrict.

Strolling around in the sun feels so good that we lose track of time - and have to make a mad dash to get to the concert we've booked at La Fenice. Trying to get anywhere in Venice in a hurry is not a good idea! Ten years ago, this opera house had recently been gutted by fire - so it's great to see the wonderful job of restoration that's been done.

The concert is superb. Afterwards we head to Santa Maria de la Salute as the sun's going down, then go back to The Lido for dinner.
