Sally Mair - Loving life

Tick tock

We are fortunate in having two sitting rooms, this one is the business one. The computer is in here along with all the children's toys. It doesn't get used very often by us for sitting and relaxing in and it's usually chaotic! Today though, Colin went up to his mum's and I was home alone. Ali, Josie and I went out for lunch and then this evening I got stuck in.
We never use this gas fire, I don't think it's been lit more than 20 times in the eight years or so that we've had it. I decided to give it a good clean out, get rid of the spiders webs and check the burners were clear. To my delight when I put it all back together it lit first time. I then got completely carried away and started on the rest of the room. I polished and tidied the wall unit and its contents, sorted out the toys, brought the books out of the hall bookcase to make room for the crib and tidied the desk. I even wound the clocks - yes clocks plural, there are 4 clocks in the room which need winding and two that have batteries. Yes, I know that's a lot of clocks but I don't wind the chimes or strikes! Dad fixed clocks as a hobby and I just got into the habit of acquiring them! I only have two in the lounge, I think! The room is now quite unrecognisable in its polishedness! !
I got out the nativity scene and put it ready in the hall, but I'll wait until Eilidh and Isobel are here and they can set it up for me.
I finally made a start on the cards this evening too. A-G are done and I even took them down to the post box. I know they won't be picked up for a while, but they are at least in the box. The box is absolutely full though, so I'll not get the next batch in until it's been emptied which could be a while.
