Distracted

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I am feeling better today. Reality is still there but I'm getting better at pretending that it is not.

I'm trying to organise a call home to Yorkshire this weekend to get the lay of the land. The plan coalescing in my head is to go home for my dad's 79th birthday in April.

For now, that's all I have.

Fortunately there were a lot of distractions to keep my mind calm today; first of all there wa -

SYMONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

There was Briar.

She was ebullient today, trying to get me to attend the Kainga Ora business analyst party* and inviting me to the Moemoea session. It was so nice to see her and Christine again. They taught me some basic sentence structure and I felt my happiness levels rising.

I also spent some time texting Manda and video chatting to Corrie. I told them both what was going on with me. Not on purpose, it's just that we were talking anyway and it seemed weirder NOT to tell them.

They were both lovely. I am very lucky to have such supportive friends. Corrie mainly wanted to talk to me because she's being head-hunted AGAIN. I'm glad that her experiences at Kainga Ora are proving valuable to her - it's just a shame that she wasn't as valued at Kainga Ora.

Anyway, it was just a chat. I think she's going to stay where she is for now.

Caro was out most of the day, she's starting early on getting the treatments she needs for her big birthday bash next month. But I was very happy to see her when she got back at 4pm.

In between her and the cats and my friends, it was a good day. Against a backdrop of a reality I can pretend does not exist.

* I was not tempted. Don't get me wrong, there are a number of fellow BA's whose company I enjoy but it was in town, started at 1.30pm and because it was an Officially Sanctioned party I suspect there would have been some Senior Managemental W*nkery inveigled in there.

I'd much rather meet with my people next week. Watch this space.
