Annette's animals
Today I went along to visit a dear friend who is in her 96th year. I used to garden for her when I lived in Shetland. As her daughter had warned me, she didn't know who I was. She didn't remember that she'd had a garden or that in her younger years gardening was something she loved doing.
Communication was difficult as Mary is terribly deaf but we sat together and had a cup of tea. I'm glad to have seen her. She is comfortable and calm and is being well looked after by her family.
A very overcast sky, but as I left I tried for a photo of some of Annette's 'animals'. Like her mother she is a keen gardener but also enjoys making creative garden features which are dotted around their property.
I took reading material and snacks in for J. She reports that the hospital food is actually very good. That is heartening to know. Tasty, appetising, healthy food is so important and even more so when you are not well.
