Forcing rhubarb

I didn't force my rhubarb last year, which can only mean one thing: I'm forcing it this year!

Forcing is basically suppressing light around the base to get lighter coloured, sweeter stems. You can buy fancy rhubarb forcers but an upturned bucket (or even a black compost bin) will do the job just as well. 

I like this tall and narrow terracotta planter, I've used it for years for that purpose and miraculously managed to keep it intact!
