Relaxed start to the morning, then we put my case etc in the car and headed into town for breakfast. A couple of places were full or a bit boring so, after a brief wait, we ended up at Dishoom. Shared a bacon naan and granola with fruit and yogurt. Lovely! Wandered back through the shops and D dropped me off at the station. Blip of lovely glass dome in waiting room ceiling. I am sure I very carefully centred it and got all of the dome in but when I looked later I had chopped the side off. Happens to me a lot! I was early which was just as well as my train was cancelled 20 mins after I arrived and I managed to get on the earlier one which was delayed, and got a seat! Train was overcrowded of course, and the east coast line in chaos as signalling cables had been stolen in the Doncaster area. We then got stuck behind a train whose brakes had jammed. I decided to stay on the train to Newark rather than change at York andGrantham as planned- all the stations we stopped at were heaving with people and I thought I might not get on another train - and certainly not get a seat - if I changed trains . We eventually arrived at Newark mainline station after waiting for ages around Doncaster, and I phoned for a taxi to get to the local station in Newark . Only waited 5 minutes for a train to Nottingham and there was a bus waiting as I walk d out off the station. Got home a bit before 8 - so only just over an hour late but a very tedious journey
