The Circle Of Life

Every summer I raise Monarch Butterfly caterpillars because we have wasps that predate on them.  The Monarchs are lovely to see in the garden.  I have random swan plants around the garden which have self seeded themselves.  Today I looked under some leaves and found three eggs.  This leaf has flopped and so revealed the egg.
This morning our neighbour Fred died at home.  He was 96.  This afternoon when we went to see his wife Pam I saw a Monarch flying through their garden.  Fred and Pam built the first house in our street 38 years ago.
While staying at my nephew's house in Christchurch I read this:

Scattered by the wind
washed by the rain
and transformed by the sun,
all doubts are swept away
and all restrains are cast down.
Fly o free spirit, fly
to the clouds in the heavens,
transformed by the sun,
with all doubts swept away
and all restrains cast down.
