A Day In The Life

I hope you’re enjoying the Christmas Song Countdown to December 25th. Nanzy19 commented it was just like an Advent Calendar :) • Okay, here’s #21: Silver Bells by Raymond Evans and Jay Livingston, 1950. It was first sung by William Frawley, then by Bob Hope in the 1951 film “The Lemon Drop Kid”. However, the first recorded version was sung by Bing Crosby in 1950 • Originally the song was “Tinkle Bells” until Jay’s wife informed him tinkle was slang for urination!! I like silver SO much better! The song was inspired by the sidewalk Santas soliciting donations while ringing bells on every street corner in New York City • Kate Smith’s 1966 version is one of the most popular • We visited a favorite gift shop “Saltbox Primitives” which is where today’s blip was taken. A few other stops were made, including Damon’s per MrsP’s request. Someone might be getting gin in her stocking :) • Congratulations to England on an exciting and solid WC victory yesterday. Next, France!
