Milly (and Cathy)

Next Saturday will be Milly’s 26th birthday, which she’s celebrating at her mum’s, so this morning, the Minx and I drive down from Sheffield to Lincoln to celebrate a little way in advance. (We'll be away all next week.)

We started off at the flat Milly shares with her boyfriend, which I haven’t been to before, but which was lovely, and then wandered ‘round to Milly’s favourite restaurant, Kine, for lunch. Milly happily opened her presents while we all enjoyed a celebratory glass of fizz, and then we ate. The food was excellent.

And after that we had a wander around Lincoln, which was waaay nicer than I remembered from my one brief visit several years ago. It seems to have hit a critical mass of good shops, resulting in a buzzing and thriving town centre. (Kind of the exact reverse of Kendal.)

We even made it to the top of the prosaically named Steep Hill to enjoy the cathedral - apparently referred to locally as "Cathy" - and the law courts.

And in the evening, the Minx and I drove back up to Kirkby Lonsdale, in anticipation of a busy day, tomorrow.
