Another Languedoc year...

A peach of two halves

Our three peach trees have terrible peach leaf curl - a condition exacerbated by very wet spring. Everybody's trees look the same. I treated them last autumn and again just before the leaf buds appeared. I hung a net of eggshells which is supposed to work against the fungus, but, like everyone else around here, my trees still suffered badly.

So today, armed with some tiny snips, I took off every infected leaf. In the photo above the young tree has been half-done. I've treated them again against la cloque du pecher. I'm hoping that the trees will produce uninfected leaves to sustain them through the summer.

Fingers crossed. And yes, those are the tiny fruits of flat peaches.
