Unexpected gift
We went to town to pick up a few groceries and see what the situation was like at the hospital. I wanted to get the blood work and x-rays done, and luckily there were very few people there and I only had to wait about 20 minutes before getting both done. The snow and road conditions likely deterred a few people. It snowed most of the day and we have about 3 inches on the ground at home. Less in town at sea level, and I rolled down my window and took a photo of the guy walking in the extra.
Plenty of people here aren't prepared properly for driving in winter conditions. On the way to town, we were behind a small truck that was slipping up the hill and driving slowly, but better to drive slowly than skid into the ditch. On the way home, there were quite a few cars abandoned on the road, one on the hill up to our place that took up an entire lane. G had arranged to take Bill's sister Sherry down to the ferry, and he said that there were a few more cars stranded. Sherry gave us a lovely bottle of wine and a beautiful card to thank us for helping out. Sure hope that her flight isn't cancelled tomorrow morning! Ferries between the mainland and Swartz Bay were cancelled for most of the day and some flights from Vancouver were too. Haven't heard of any cancellations out of Victoria airport so she should be okay. The wind is picking up and the snow is supposed to change to rain. That should make for fun driving conditions tomorrow! Thankfully we don't have to go anywhere until Thursday.
