Beaver's bark and bite

After a couple of idle days occasioned by the weather, I took myself off for a walk around Loch Coille-Bhar in Knapdale. There are two active beaver lodges on this loch and signs of their activity are everywhere. The light was too poor for anything landscapey, so here's a tree showing evidence of attention from the beavers. They eat the bark and may go on to ganw through the tree to harvest smaller branches for building purposes.
In other news, this won the weekly photo competition over on Geograph, #WhichIsNice.
