The trouble with sunsets ……
…….. is that you never know just how they’ll turn out.
It’s another drive to West Shore in the hope of a sunset; it’s been a beautiful day - although we’ve seen no sun as we’re now living in the ‘twilight zone’ of north facing hill dwellers in the winter months. But despite the blue sky above, it’s another case of ominous grey to the east.
Arriving at the beach, it seems hopeless. There seems little point in getting out of the car, but as we’re here we may as well have a walk to blow away the cobwebs. Than I see them - the kite surfers. It may be grey, but the coloured kites are always worth a shot or too.
G leaves me to get on with it and heads off up the beach. It’s icy cold with the wind blowing off the beach, and unsurprisingly as dusk is falling, one by one the three surfers leave the water to make their way up the sands, struggling with their now horizontal canopies, looking like strange half-human crabs.
Just as I’m about to give up, there’s a break in the cloud and a pinkish glow begins to spread. Miraculously, the cloud is clearing just in time for the sun to make a final play of colour on the shore. It’s certainly not a spectacular West Shore Sunset, but it’s far more than I expected, and I’m grateful for the lone walker who crosses the rays of the sun just at the right time.
Many thanks for your generous response to yesterday’s Snowdonia shots - comments, stars and hearts much appreciated.
