Today I give you
Cinnamon rolls.
This is the second recipe I've tried. The first one used a yeast dough and although the resulting rolls were impressive and looked fantastic they were quite a challenge to eat. Even my daughter had to admit that she was only really eating the middles where the dough was soft.
These use self raising flour and look really nice now that they are out of the oven. The dough was really quite wet, which isn't necessarily a bad thing - it generally means that you end up with a more tender result. But it does require confident handling.
Not baked anything else today. The bad back saga continues so I decided to give myself permission to do very little. Donated recipes are dribbling in and the majority appear to be for tiffin. So it does look like the original plan to 'fill in' with my own recipes is now more my recipes and a few donated by others. That's fine but it is far more time consuming for me. It will be a challenge to get 100 recipes tested, written up and photographed by the end of June. Obviously not all the photographs will be used but the more I take, the more chance there is that some will be good enough for publication.
Good job I like a challenge :)
Update: Nicely claggy. Made a vanilla mascapone icing to go on top and it worked well. Definitely going in the book.
