Here's One I Prepared Earlier

The theme for November's U3A Digital Photo Group meeting was 'Creative - Fruit' and I must admit it was a theme I struggled with in terms of thinking what and how to photograph, (we had to produce 6 photos).

After a 'fruitful' visit to our local farm shop, and armed with flowers, a small gourd and a variety of fruits I set about turning a corner of the spare room into a 'studio' and with the aid of a pile of books, a dark cloth, and a fruit bowl I set about trying to create a 'still-life' in the style of an old oil painting.

I got the best results from darkening the room and 'painting' light onto the display with a torch (covered with one of M's handkerchiefs to reduce the brightness), whilst the camera (on a tripod) was taking a longish exposure.

Just to experiment further I added a length of Chinese silk around the arrangement and tried the same photo but converted it to to black and white.

There's now rather a lot of fruit to eat!
