HMS Customhouse was built in 1902.
Historic Places lists the architect as Forrester & Lemon Architects. Timaru District Council lists the architect as Daniel West, a Timaru architect.

It has a category 1 NZ Historic Places listing.

The building was vacated by the Customs Department in the late 1970's, and has operated as a restaurant in recent years.



It was overcast when I went into town this morning, which was quite good for getting this shot. Although some puffy clouds would have been the cherry on the top of this photo.
