In for a Landing
I hardly ever get to see blue herons in Michigan. And, when I do see them...they aren't like the herons in Florida. Down south, they must be used to people, and you can get quite close to them. Here, they seem to have an aversion to cameras. Now you see them...then they're gone.
I had a nice relaxing kayak ride. HA! (I almost hate to say what happened.) Embarrassing.
I loaded up my kayak, and went to the put-in spot. Only problem? I forgot my seat. (It detaches.) Loaded the boat back up, and went back to my house.
Round two. I unloaded it again, this time next to a couple of fishermen. Only problem? I forgot my paddle. I thought about screaming, but didn't want to leave that kind of mark on the fisherman. Loaded the boat back up, and went back to my house.
I thought about just staying home, but I hated to waste the lovely weather. I calmly (very calmly) got my paddle, and returned to the millpond.
I finally saw my first goslings of the season. Plus, I saw a goose and a swan sitting on their nests. 5 more pictures are on my FLICKR PAGE.
I got a "talking-to" from momma swan, and a hiss from momma goose. But, after what I had been through to get there...nuttin was going to bother me.
(Big sigh.)At least the fishermen probably got a good laugh.
