The spirit of experimentation is strong in children, and Ivy has already told us she intends to be a scientist; following on in her aunty's footsteps.

We ventured down the village to the (totally excellent) pub for a couple of glasses of wonder, and while the roaring fire and the fairy lights made for an entrancing and indeed enticing venue, Ivy was taken with the electric candles - they don't burn at all, granddad...

Of course, down the road aways there's going to be the discovery that not every experiment results in the same outcomes... ah well.
