The Hunter and The Guard
Today was our last day in Churchill. And typically, we packed a lot into it!
We drove around town looking at the many murals adorning buildings in this small town, stopping to jump out of the bus to take photos of them. We also visited several gift shops, of course! Then we spotted a Red Fox hunting in a snowy field. We photographed her out of the bus windows while she paid us not one bit of attention. I've never had the opportunity to photograph a wild fox! So, needless to say, I was really happy! We made a short visit to Cape Merry, a Historic point of land just outside of Churchill. We made a quick, very quick tour of the area since apparently winter is not the most welcoming time to visit. The wind was blowing hard and it's the coldest I've ever been in my entire life! My right hand wasn't gloved because of the camera and I was a bit concerned that it was getting frost bit! There were several Bear Guards standing watch. And we did see a Polar Bear probably napping about 20 yds away. When a guard saw me about to take his picture, he posed! See the extra... I really love Canadian humor! We flew back to Winnipeg after lunch and will spend tomorrow visiting some of the sights there. Then we have a very early flight (6:50 am) to Minneapolis and then to Atlanta and finally home. (We're almost home, Puppies!)
