Living my dream

Fishing

We were in town again today. While I supervised an exam Bean snoozed in the car.

There is just one perfect parking spot beneath a shady tree, which I use each time I work at the exams to ensure Bean is comfortable. It is not actually a legitimate parking spot: it has a large orange ‘NP’ painted on the gravel, which probably explains why it’s always vacant. However I shall continue to park there unless/until somebody from the school objects.

At the end of today’s exam I took Bean up to Cape Wanbrow again. There was a fishing boat very slowly heading past the Cape and into port, trailing a huge flock of what I think were gulls and shags. If you look closely you can see a dot - aka fishing boat - out at sea.

Presumably the catch was being processed; the frames and guts being chucked over the side to feed the wildlife. There were probably dolphins getting in on the act too, but it was too far away to see any fins.

I took several photos and finally chose this one because of the line of lighter cloud and it’s reflection far out towards the horizon.

That was as close as the sun reached us all day. It’s been muggy again and reached 20C mid-afternoon. I had hoped to get home and cut more grass, but light rain last night knocked that idea on the head. With more rain forecast I can see the grass getting a lot longer before I get the mower, or even the line trimmer onto it.

It’s just as well I have plenty of other things to do…
