West Highland Line

Joyce and i were up and away first thing today. We got the 7.15 train to Glasgow then had a 14 minute change to catch the West Highland line to Mallaig. Joyce wanted to see the Glenfinnan Viaduct. She tried with some friends in the summer but when they got to Glasgow their train was cancelled so their holiday went ahead on Skye but without the Mallaig ferry and Glenfinnan. Today we almost didn't make it either! Our 14 minute transfer at Queen Street was whittled down to 4 minutes by delays. Fortunately we were at the front of the train so I hared off through the morning commuters to get to the train while Joyce came more slowly as she recently had a foot op. We made it!
It's a long journey, five and a half hours. Fortunately I'd noticed that there are no refreshments on the trains at the moment and we'd come prepared.
The journey was through beautiful country, sadly my viaduct images are not great though as there was so much reflection of the interior of the train on the dirty windows. Here's one of an earlier viaduct from a distance. I think it was around Rannoch. Perhaps somebody can tell me which it is.
We had 2 hours in Mallaig, HazelH the heritage centre was closed! Nothing much to do otherwise!
Over night in Fort William then on to Inverness tomorrow.
