Covid-era gimmickry

Restaurants are still desperately trying to come back from the devastation of 2020, and Covid is still wreaking havoc. This Japanese place has just installed a blazing fireplace along the center of their outdoor table. I was out for my walk around sunset, which is near 4 in the evening and too early for dinner, so I don't know if this gimmick is working or not.

It occurred to me after I'd made this photograph that the fire is probably gas, and gas is horrible for the environment. Head in my hands.

Sue's younger son and his wife went out for a festive dinner, and it was so cold, his feet went numb. He didn't regain feeling in them for hours.
