Quiet Saturday

One of Sue’s sisters is here with her husband, and I joined them for a trip to the Portland Art Museum today to see the exhibition of Oscar Howe’s work. I made an utterly boring posed photo of the three of them in the elevator with their masks on, but I had more fun with this view out the window—well, the emergency door actually. I have enjoyed looking out of windows in museums ever since I read this, by Gertrude Stein, back when I was teaching Stein to university students:

“I always like, as well as liked looking out of windows in museums. It is more complete, looking out of windows in museums, than looking out of windows anywhere else.” From Lectures in America.
