At the 40 Acre Rock
Brett has never been a hiking person but because he had a day off work he went with me to see the unusual landscape known as the 40 acre rock. He was amazed that this geologic feature was in the middle of the sand hills and pine trees. We hiked about two miles so I could show him the cave and the waterfall. The waterfall was dry but probably won’t be after we get two days of rain from a tropical storm.
The forest below the rock was covered with beech, oak, poplar and other leaves which made the trail a little slippery in places. He is so long legged that he would get ahead of me and tell me to speed up. I told him my short legs could only go so fast!
I think he enjoyed the hike as he said he was going to do some research on the geology of the area.
The hubby is traveling with his hunting friends toward Colorado. He is somewhere in western Kentucky now. Apparently the two younger guys are doing the driving and they plan to drive all night and again all day tomorrow. I think from his texts he may be regretting this travel decision. I will be happy to say “ I told you so” as I did tell him that he would not like being a passenger with no control of the driving, etc. I am mean like that.
Big rain and much cooler in the next couple of days.
