Midnight beekeeping!

A lull in the weather and Mike being at Molly and Jim’s garden meant that tonight was the night to collect their hive of bees, as they are retiring aged 95 !
I got the strap around the hive ok, although the bees popped out to see what was going on! As dusk fell I stuffed up their doorway with some old fabric, and Rob and Mike lifted the whole thing into the car.
Of course it started raining as we arrived home but it had to go in its position so we struggled up the hill with it. I pulled out some of the door block and the bees peeped out, and I have piled some sticks against the front. This should stop the bees from rushing out in the morning, so they have time to reorient. They won’t know where they are! It’s crazy doing something like this in the dark, but hopefully we haven’t lost any bees.
