Tractor Tuesday....
Another busy one today.
Got a phone call from Mrs F to say her car had a puncture on the way to work,so had to drop tools and head off to rescue her. The road was fairly busy ,so parked the Landrover behind the car while I put the spare on. It's only a stupid wee space saver thing, but better than nothing. By the looks of the alloy wheel it and the tyre are knackered.
Back home to finish feeding cattle in time for Ronnie arriving with the mobile bruiser to process the remaining pile of barley sitting in the shed. Bruising is when the grain passes between two revolving steel roller to squash it into flakes so the stock can digest it.
By 5 pm we had bruised 77 tons and used 720 litres of propcorn ( propanoic acid) which helps preserve the grain. Last year it cost £1.09 a litre. This year it is about £1.85. Plus around about £10-12 per ton to bruise ,so not a cheap days work.
By the time I had returned the borrowed tele handler and
headed home it was getting on.
Had enough for one day I think.
