sheep shearing. also poop.

Today, the day was spent shearing the NCF's sheep flock. We corralled some of the sheep in a small area with a gate and a tarp (you'll see), grabbing them under the head and by the tail stub one at a time and leading them to be sheared. Once you get them flipped onto their butt or back, they're pretty calm. Interestingly, the wool pretty much comes off in one big mat, since between the tangling and the lanolin it's pretty well stuck together.

The tarp was for gathering sheep poop. Yes, sheep poop. We're going to see if anything will germinate from their poop. We'd like to graze them in some uninvaded fields and want to make sure no invasives will sprout up from the sheep dropping a twosie in the field.
