Morning view
Women at 6.15 this morning to get the bags outside the door for 6.45 before breakfast at 7.00 and leaving at 7.30 after making sure the bags were on the coach! Almost made it in time! 1st stop Caesarea to see Herod’s palace with its theatre and palace! So much history going on here! There are some original bits but the theatre has been rebuilt and is in use for concerts.
We arrived early and there were three coaches and by the time we left there were many more. From Caesarea we could see the coal fired power station and on a pontoon out in the bay the place where thd coal is landed! It looked like a yacht from a didtance! Mag bd adding extra in the morning!
Next stop was mount Carmel where Elijah had a face off with the prophets of Baal and from where Moses viewed the Promisef land knowing he could not enter it. The views were hazy.
Next stop was aka, Aker and the Knights Hospitalers placdvof work where they dealt with the sick and built a huge fortress with massive stone walls which is still being archaeologically discovered today!
Lunch was in a tourist trap and was very good but what I think is ghcme equivalent of a Meze with numerous didhes placed on the table Tom chose from.
From there we journeyed on to Nazareth which was an absolute treat! Nazareth city is an Arabic city within Israel and it is the biggest in had country. The biblical village of Nazareth would have held msybe 400 people and there is a place where they have recreated the village in the style of Jesus time and volunteers demonstrate the clothing and style of life! There is also a small farm around it. The local guide there was an absolute treasure and brought it all to life!
Sunset from mount tabor was missed as it arrived too early and we made our way to the lake House Hotel in Tiberias near the Sea of Galilee! Bed now! Up again at 6.30!
