Present Daze

Sunday was Childrens Day here in Korea, and following closely tomorrow is Parents Day. Unlike back home where Mums and Dads get a seperate occaision, they get the one day together over here.
The streets are awash with carnations, the traditional gift, all decorated with pink ribbons. In some parts of the city they're literally on every corner.

Maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age, but I find this uniform 'sameness' of these gifts a little annoying - a bit of variety or imagination wouldn't go amiss.
Of course grown-up kids will also give their parents money, or an expensive present, and many of the young 'uns make cards and gifts at school, too.
