World Ballet Day
Today is World Ballet Day, a tradition that goes back all the way to 2014.
It is really is just an excuse to photograph a pre-production book that my aunt was involved with.
Aunt Nellie, who has featured in these pages before, was a photographic retoucher who worked for the photographic studio Baron Studios.
The studio was founded by the photographer, Baron, who published a number of books on ballet illustrated with his photographs, mainly black &white.
This book, “Baron Encore” is a very rough copy, pages not cut properly, almost bound with string and must surely be meant as copy to be proof read.
The colour frontispiece shown here, is of Margot Fonteyn in “Swan Lake”
Happy World Ballet Day.
