Gem squash

The following is from the Wikipedia entry

“Gem squash (Cucurbita species) is a dark green spherical fruit, when full ripe, is about the size of a tennis ball.

Gem squash is grown widely in South Africa and is commonly served as a vegetable, often boiled or baked.”

But I can buy it locally too, and do so with enthusiasm when I see them.
