Expedition to the Hundred Acre Wood
Laughing out loud.
It was Mummy C's last full day with us today, & while M-C went into Haywards Heath centre to meet with a friend, we had a few hours to finish our tidying in the garden & plant our seeds & flowers - they're all in now, so we have Sunflowers, Sweet William's, Poppy's, Iris's, Poached Egg Plants, Aubrieta's, amongst others, all to look forward to sprouting & blooming. Our parsley & coriander seedlings have also just broke the surface of the soil too - exciting stuff. We also had the time to prepare our huge-mungous pork leg joint that we'll be feasting on later! It's got a piece of crackling on it that Captain America would be proud to use as a shield. Mmm, crime-fightingly delicious.
This afternoon, following a smarckeral of lunch, we weeved our way along the country lanes in the beautiful bank holiday sunshine (what a scorcher it's been today again!) to Hartfield & to Pooh Corner, the tea room & shop, where AA Milne was inspired to write Winnie-the-Pooh. We met Mum there, fresh from a weekend at the Chalet in Whitstable, & enjoyed tea & various Eeyore & Piglet snacks.
We then made our way to Pooh Bridge, where the first game of Pooh Sticks was played between AA Milne & his son, Christopher Robin. We couldn't have left without having our own little context: it was a tense & adrenalin pumped game, with Mummy C coming in first place, Mummy W coming in a close second, Jenny finishing a respectable third & MonkeyWithAView bringing up the rear in fourth place.. pooh stick!
We had a delicious Monday Roast in the evening & rounded off a fantastic & relaxing weekend chilling with a drink & some strawberries watching Overboard .
Aaaaaaah, joy.
And back to work tomorrow.
