Life?

I saw this interesting view at Packwood House National Trust property near Solihull. We stopped here to break our journey south from Poolsbrook near Staveley, Chesterfield to Tewkesbury. 
I liked what had been done in this view. This wouldn’t be constructed today: too expensive, not accessible to all, unavailability of skilled craftsmen, easier solutions. I haven’t captured it well but there is wonderful ironwork on the gate (a skill which you may remember I have admired in the past elsewhere) and when compared to a new, modern, nicely done in a traditional style but lightweight metal gate to the left (out of shot) it is sublime. Then there is a grassy avenue beyond with an inviting walk, which I did because Molly dog isn’t allowed in properties nor, annoyingly, in gardens either. 
Looking at this scene I wondered whether this could be a reflection of life. Upward steps, sometimes risky with nothing to hang onto, then when you think you’ve made it a further obstacle is there. And the grass isn’t greener on the other side as here. Well it spoke to me anyway.
The additions are of the house and what looks like a grand stable block.
