Sundowner

Breakfast at the lodge which served the cabin and then we walked down to the beach in the Andrew Molera state park.  It is one of the few beaches that are accessible and even so you have to wade across a knee high icy cold river. We walked through California oak, laden with Spanish moss and surrounded by poison oak which is very ordinary looking but can cause huge pain and swelling.  The tide was in and the beach was being pounded by huge waves. Driftwood shelters dotted down the sand.  Despite the roughness a surfer bobbed out at sea hoping to catch a wave in - I talked to him when he came in for a break.  He worked at the military academy at Monterary and surfing was his passion.

We brought our left overs and picked up some beers and had lunch around the firepit outside H and A’s cabin. In the afternoon I went back to our cabin to read so that V and H could have some time together.

We went up to Nepenthe to see the sunset (see. Blip) there is always a big crowd for the moment. It is a spectacular sight over the incoming fog bank

And on the slope below us the little local black tail mule deer were wandering about.

We actually had dinner in Big Sur Inn which was eccentrically appointed but served nice relaxed food.  A good day.
