The Ice Cream Man Cometh

Today we had a very successful 3rd birthday party, held at the local park with 10-12 of his friends from school and their parents.  We hadn't counted on the 20-25 mph winds so were not able to use the the lovely tablecloths and things like napkins became scarce as they kept blowing away.  Nevertheless, after a delicious catered lunch, a woman who specializes in music classes for the very young arrived with an array of percussion instruments for the kids, and lots of familiar songs to which everyone sang along.  Then there was cake, but no candles as we couldn't light them in the wind, but 3 year olds don't care much about that anyway.  The big surprise was when the ice cream truck pulled up on cue.  

This had been prearranged by my daughter-in-law.  It seems that our little guy loves ice cream trucks, so much so that for halloween he will be an ice cream man.  Still wearing some of his cake on his face, he was able to give out the ice cream treats to his friends and parents.  He was absolutely delighted.
