Spot the seals

This coast of California is endlessly wild and there is little between the cities and towns strung between SF and LA.

We legged it out of The Babbling Brook hotel and went back to Verve for a good breakfast before going up to see Hannah and Alexander’s cabin which was small but perfectly formed.   Hannah and we went for a walk on the cliffs and saw masses of seals, pelicans and turkey vultures.  All of which swirled around the sea in almost every glance.  Many other birds that I didn’t recognize and plants that I couldn’t name.   The drought has made everything very brown but we only saw one burned hillside on our drive south to Big Sur.

H and A join us here tomorrow but tonight it is just us in one of those cabins in the woods where normally terrible things happen in movies.  V and his family are more used to them than me.

We went to dinner at Nepenthe, a restaurant we loved from last time we were here many years ago, and one that V has been visiting for decades. It hasn’t changed a bit
