A Bird Day

We have had a woodpecker visiting our nut feeders on a fairly regular basis for the last few weeks.  I presume it is the same one each time! Today it was here at breakfast time and also lunch time, when I grabbed this shot. Sadly the sun had moved around to cast the shadow of the house onto the feeder whilst still shining on the fence behind which made for a tricky exposure and lots of work in Lightroom!

Earlier, on my walk, I had got another bird photograph - a red kite flying overhead (see extra).

EDIT - just added a second red kite shot...it shows off the colours of the feathers better
