Art

Obviously I didn’t take this as I’m in it. 

Today we woke up to brilliant sun shining into our hotel room with light bouncing off the sea beneath our balcony.  We then drove up to Headlands in Marin County which was very near.  You go through a short tunnel through the hill which prioritised bicycles (very SF) and then up a hill to an old military base which has become an artist’s retreat where my stepdaughter has made an installation.  

It was so beautiful,  every building a cream clap board house with residential rooms and studios.  Subtly shabby and weathered.  @treshnish you would have loved the buildings - if I could work out how to do extras I’d have put one up.   Hannah’s done several art projects for the National Park Service and her work in progress was set in the Badlands in Dakota and involved looking in detail at a small plot of land through the eyes of several people, all resident experts. 

The triptych film in the picture we were shown after we came back from lunch, it was about Fire Island in New York State and was an art film with a subtle underlying narrative about human beings retreating from nature.  It was terrific. 

Back to the hotel in the evening, we enjoyed our free wine and cheese  with our friend Marc who came over from San Francisco for dinner. 

Sausalito is lovely but the whole Bay Area is so seductive, much more live-able than LA which I know much better.
