Sausalito

View from our balcony which is literally over the sea. We woke to slight fog today and a cooler breeze but the view was magnificent across to the city.  I chose this (of the zillions taken) because it shows the ferry and the nearby  Angel Island.  As the sun came out we set off, first to Target (glamorous) to buy a second bag to decant stuff into so I don’t have to unpack so much.  I am not enjoying the living out of a suitcase side of things.

Then we walked along the shore back to have lunch at the lovely food counter restaurant Joinery.  We sat outside basking in the sunshine and watched a giant seagull strip a chicken carcass left at a nearby table.  Ah the joys of holiday life….

After lunch we went, and this is niche, to see a giant model of the bay used to study tides and water patterns. .  V had always wanted to see it. It was spread over an acre and wasn’t, as I imagined like a miniature city but a proper working model now superceded by computers.  It is run by the military apparently.   I can’t pretend I was fascinated as it was all a bit impenetrable if you didn’t know the area and I happily took a long call from Ben whilst V studied water flow through the Bay.  There was an interesting exhibition about the role of the military in the San Francisco earthquake and fire in 1904.  I didn’t know much about that. .

Wandered back to the hotel, i picked up a pedicure on the way.  In the evening we went to a little beachside restaurant where the food was average but the vibe was fun.
