Sarah and Chris had recently seen a table they liked in an antique shop in Lewes, so today they went back there in the car to buy it and fetch it home. On the way, they picked me up and we all went out to lunch.

I spoke to a young man who was sitting in the street with a sign saying he was hungry. We only had a short conversation but I learned that he was from Moldova. He had a lovely smile. We shook hands and I wished him all the best. I’ve thought about him a lot since.

Mum, Dad and I went to the Uckfield Picture House to see “Emily” which I thought was excellent, especially the direction and the music. So much rain in Haworth and how did they ever get their dresses dried out? No wonder they all died young.
