Porthole

It was lovely to look out through the porthole as dawn broke and watch the banks of the Inner Oslofjord emerge from the darkness: the journey up to Oslo was quite magical.

From the port, we walked up to the bus stop, and then took the number 21 to Alexander Kiellands plass, from where it was just a short walk to the AirBnB, which, happily, was every bit as beautiful as it had looked in the photos.

Later in the afternoon, we went out for a walk to have a look around and do a bit of shopping. I was particularly intrigued about the whole system for buying alcohol and, indeed, we found one of the state run off-licences. I don't think I've ever been in such a large shop dedicated to selling alcohol!

We'd been told - or had read online - that supermarkets can't sell any beers above 3.7% in strength. In fact, the figure appears to be 4.7% and it was actually tricky to find anything weaker than that!
