An Afternoon in A&E

A windy day, with a dry morning.  It soon started to rain, and rained most of the day, easing off tonight.

Up early, and tried to get through to my surgery and GP, no luck, the same receptionist again with a terrible attitude.  Late shift in the airport, and I started on the check-in desk.  By lunchtime, I was in so much pain, my line manager sent me to the hospital.  It was a long haul in A&E, but I finally got out after 5½ hours at the back of 7pm.  The long sit made my pains worse, so a good long walk with Sammy, also Julie and Keba this evening really helped.  Sister Julie and family are down from Unst, so I popped down to mam's, Laura and Shaun were also there.  Strong pain killers tonight, and an early to bed.

I was quite upset about my local surgery, but thankfully I have been seen by a doctor today.  After a long sit, the doctor finally got around to seeing me (they had a backlog after yesterday's problems).  I got a full examination again, and ruled out any deep rooted dangerous issues, it is trapped nerves.  He wants me to get an MRI scan, start a physio session ASAP, and there might be a need for back surgery, but hoping that's a worst case scenario.  I've been prescribed some powerful pain killers, fingers crossed I can sleep a full night now.  The best pain killer is walking and exercise.  Taken in the A&E department, Gilbert Bain Hospital, Lerwick.
