I think these are Porcelain Fungus (Oudemansiella mucida) which are growing up a large crack in the bark of an old beech tree.  Unfortunately the photo does not show the pure white of the toadstools.  Apparently they are edible but they would be hard to collect because they were growing high up in the tree.
