We decided to go to St Abbs today as we were missing our usual walk round St Abbs Head this year. The millions of nesting birds have gone from the cliffs and the sea was too rough for the boats to take divers to explore one of the best areas for marine life in Britain and the multitude of flowers and butterflies are no longer around. Instead on the edge of the village there was an unusual crop with people wandering around among hundreds of different coloured pumpkins and helping the Pumpkin Patch raise money for Cash for Kids as they made their choice for Halloween. Periodically the sound of cannon fire could be heard as a pumpkin was fired in the air towards some straw bales disguised as characters from the Avengers. One can be seen here although I am not sure if it is whole or in bits. The extra shows the huge waves at nearby Coldingham beach and the turbulent waters behind the harbour wall at St Abbs.
