If you can't beat them...

Path at Talkin Tarn

With all the talk of power cuts, we thought it would be a good idea to have our generator serviced just in case.   Always keen to combine business and pleasure we decided that after dropping it off with the "Lawnmower man" (yes I know it isn't a lawnmower) we headed for Talkin Tarn.

Not surprisingly coffee and cake were the first things on the agenda, get that in before the cafe closes we thought.  After good coffee and good cake, we loitered for a while chatting with Kanyl who we had brought with us.

Then we had a stroll along the tarn side path.  As you can see autumn colour is not quite in full swing, but very pleasant whatever.  Autumn is the season of fungi and there were quite a few around.  On arrival,  the first thing we saw was a tree stump with a patch of Golden Scaly Cap ( Philiota eurivella) at least that is what I decided they were.  the fruiting bodies covered at least 1m by 60cm (3ft by 2ft).  Further along, I found what I decided were Rufus Milk Cap (Lactarius rufus).
