The quiet kid in the corner
Back to college, today, and just two more weeks to go after this, I think, one of which I'll miss, unfortunately. In terms of my fellow students, this class has been a bit less engaged, and some people have drifted away, leaving a small core. Which has ended up being quite good, actually.
There's one young lad called Jamie, who's turned up each week, never saying much, although my impression of him has always been that he was a nice lad. But he's forty years younger than me, so we haven't chatted that much.
Today it was just me, Jamie, and Yoss in class, and it turned out that Yoss had offered to help Jamie with producing vocals. This is something we've never really touched on in class and it made for a fascinating lesson, as well as a reminder of just how good Yoss is.
Jamie attends LIPA, and today I found out he'd progressed quite a long way through one season of 'The Voice'. From chatting to him, this afternoon, which has never really happened before, I found out what a talented performer he is. He regularly - once or twice a week - does gigs on his own, using a guitar or piano, playing whatever he's asked to do.
He has a great voice, too, which really enhanced the lesson. And I'm glad I got the chance to learn a bit about him before the course ends, rather than simply remembering him as the quiet kid in the corner.
(Today's shot is an autumnal Bexley Square, where I sat enjoying a coffee before Yoss arrived.)
