sweet peas
Recently, Sarah sent me an email from the wonderful Higgledly Garden about a sweet pea bundle, which she probably knew that I wouldn't be able to resist buying (she was right). I love sweet peas and always make sure to grow some each year and to have a vase of them on my desk, wafting their beautiful scent towards me as I write letters, or do my accounts, or whatever.
As you can see, this summer's sweet peas are still blooming more than halfway through October, and we still have Cosmos, Cornflowers, Marigolds and Michaelmas Daisies to keep them company. I did a bit of gardening today, removing the slimy hosta leaves, cutting back a bit of beech hedge, and picking up yet more windfall apples.
We have only had one light frost so far and it looks as though the weather may remain fairly mild for the rest of the month :-)
