Having A Flake Two Ways, Tenterden

We decided to go on a micro trip today to Tenterden as it seemed such a nice day. When we got there we did a bit of food shopping for the week and then went to have a look round the heritage railway station in the town.
The station itself was opened on 16th March 1903 and regular passenger services ran until January 1954 , with it finally closing altogether in 1961 (freight trains still ran between those two dates). Many people were devastated when it closed and by 1974 it was reopened as a heritage railway (now part of the Kent & Sussex railway) that still runs today
The station itself is beautifully preserved with many of the old enamel signs on show (see main image and first extra) and still has it's original signal box (see second extra). Very nearby the station is the rather brilliantly atmospheric Colnel Stephens'Railway Museum which was so worth the visit.
After all that activity we had to pop to nearby Vines pub for a cold pint. We had a very enjoyable, relaxing micro trip!
