Home from home.

It's perhaps surprising that I've had more of a family life this year than I do at home. I love my family but being away at uni means I don't see them all that much. This year I seem to have been adopted into several people's families, and all the fun and quarrels that go with that!

This morning Yolande came to pick me up at 9am. I went with her to deliver the bread to clients and we had a good catch up about my new job, her exams and her holiday. Arriving at the house, I had breakfast with the family, plus cousins who were visiting from the south. I spent the morning with Maricia and her cousin Clarisse making various things for lunch. This Carambar cakes varied rather a lot from the recipe, but tasted good all the same. Our aperitif snack was less sucessful unfortunately. Early afternoon was spent in playing board games. All that sporcling came in useful for impressing a band of French kids plus an Australian girl who is living with the cousin's family for a year.

After an afternoon in the garden chatting to various visitors to the bakery and attempting to skate with the girls, we made pizza for dinner. I met Yolande's sister and sensed there was a little tension between them - the story I was to find out later. I was pleased that my judgement had been correct. But dinner with 10 people is always fun. Got home around 10, and Skyped with Clare. Maybe travel plans aren't out of the window, just to be modified I guess. I am excited and stressed in equal measures!
